Mystery Stole Progress...

Here I am in the middle of Clue 4:

I found Melanie's explanation of the theme (Swan Lake) and how it led to her stitch pattern choices and color suggestions intriguing.

Bug and Moana were quite impressed with the cat paw pattern (inspired by the "pas de chat" step performed in the Dance of the Little Swans) in this part of the stole:

I can't wait to get to Clue 5 -- the wing! I'm totally up for asymmetry, and I think it sounds fun. For some reason, I like to leave in my old lifelines (red thread -- which you might notice in the photos). Hopefully I'll never have to rip back to any of them!

Bug's bed was magically transported onto the Mystery Stole while he napped.

He looked somewhat shocked to find himself there, but, fortunately, he was amenable to posing for a few pictures.

There's the well-behaved "aren't I cute" pose:

The "you can't stop me from continuing my nap" pose:

The slightly-crazed blurry paw pose:

...and the contemplative cat pose:

All in all, a successful shoot (boy, is my Mystery Stole covered in cat hair).

I mentioned a while back that I had won a prize from the wonderful Rosina of Noteworthy Knits. Not only did it include some lovely yarn, but a number of other goodies, as well. Just look at this haul!

The yarn is fabulously squishy ONline Linie 130 Champ superwash merino in a hot, bright pink color. Color coordinating pens and stationary, lemongrass scented aromatherapy body butter, and some tasty chocolate filled roll cookies (already gone, I'm afraid) round out the prize. Thanks so much, Rosina!

P.S. Many of you asked me what I was going to do with the lovely Damasco yarn I showed in my last post. I haven't decided yet, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm thinking something from Victorian Lace Today (maybe the "scarf with fir-cone lace border").

Your Mystery Stole is gorgeous. I'm not making one myself, but I love seeing the progress. I think I'm actually as excited about it as you are! (Keep posting photos, please!)

I love Melanie's theme of Swan Lake too. It has given me more drive to finish the stole. Can't wait to start the wing!

Your scarf really brings out kitty cat's eyes.

I think Bug was amenable to the photo shoot since the blue yarn matches his eyes so well.

I'm still attempting to use Bug and Moana as positive role models for my own "cats posing with handknits" photos. "Look at Bug! See! That kitty poses so sweetly. Hey! Come back here with that yarn, mister!"

/sigh

Yea! I'm happy the package arrived safe and sound :) Glad to hear you're having so much fun with the lace. I'm tempted to jump into another lace pattern myself, except I'm supposed to be packing all my earthly belongings up so I can move... hmm, maybe if I start I can use a row or two of knitting as motivation for these other tasks ;)

MS3 looks great! I still haven't started mine, being occupied with socks and all. I can't wait to see how your wing turns out.

WOW! Your stole is coming out absolutely gorgeous! Now, your cat is not the "Lucy" cat that the STR colorway was named for? Same colors! The eyes and the fur!

Wow...that's beautiful. And once again, we see that Bug truly can wear anything. He;s a designer's dream. How fun that Mystery Stole KAL sounds. If only I had time to knit....anything. :(

Hey! I just got on Ravelry and came across you right away. I too, have the Southest Trading Bamboo in Sahara. What are you using yours for? Mine is for the Lotus Tank, but now I'm feeling like I should use a solid color. Love that yarn though.

have a great weekend!
