An award, a meme, and a meme...

An award:

Guess what? It turns out I'm a:

rockingirlblogger

Woo, hoo! Awe, thanks, Mel (of Girl Eats Soup)! I love reading Mel's blog (which I happen to think has a fantastic name, by the way)... there is knitting commentary, of course, but she also gives you wonderful little windows into her life and thoughts.

There are so many really Rockin' Girl KnitBloggers out there whose blogs I love to visit -- there's literally no way I could list everybody, so I'll highlight a few of you here. I'm sending this hot-pink award to (in no particular order):

Anphoe
Brandy
Del
Rosina
So KnitPicky
Iris G
SJ
Monica PDX
Kasia
Laiane
Amy

Ok, I've broken 10, so I'd better stop.... but trust me when I say I could go on and on... and on.... I'm always learning new things from you, gaping in amazement at your latest exploits, and laughing (or occasionally, crying) as I read your blogs. You guys are all wonderful! Thanks!

Ok, as this is turning out to be a mostly pictureless post, here's a random yarn photo for your enjoyment:
handpaintlace1
(It's "Damasco" laceweight from Handpainted Yarn, if you're wondering.)

A meme:

A while back I was tagged by Brandy of The Purl Parables for the Wiki Birthday meme. The rules are… you go to www.wikipedia.org and type in your birthday (only the month and day). Then you write down 3 events, 2 births, and 1 holiday.

Events:
1. 1851 - Isaac Singer granted a patent for his sewing machine.
2. 1908 - First Model T Ford built.
3. 1981 - Release of the IBM PC or Personal Computer

Births:
1. 1887 - Erwin Schrödinger, Austrian physicist, Nobel Prize Laureate (d. 1961)
2. 1973 - Richard Reid (shoe bomber) -- well, isn't that lovely.

Holiday:
Zaraday (Discordianism)

Mmm - what will you do with that Damasco? Something involving seeing the light - or a dramatic change halfway through the design???

Yeah Rockin' Gal! I'm looking forward to visiting all the blogs you've linked.

Thanks for the compliment. I better get some posts up! The curtains have been shut on the "windows of my life" for a couple of weeks now...

Whatever shall you be using that gorgeous yarn for? It's summery....cat bikinis maybe?

I am honored by your nomination (although I think your cats may have been making subliminal suggestions to you...). I always appreciate your comments on my blog, too, btw.

Love the yarn pr0n photo! I can't wait to see what its Higher Purpose is.

Thank you so much!! I have not been a good blogger this month though--too wrapped up with the move. I do have an FO and a WIP to post about soon (if only I could close on my house and be able to concentrate on my knitting! argh!)

Thank you for the nomination! Now I have to go and check out what this is about ;-).
I missed the chance to buy laceweight merino from Handpainted Yarn more than a year ago and still can't get over it!
